This book has basic contact information for the trades and technical skills including apprenticeship programs and job websites. I cover community colleges and vocational schools in book #2. The trades are really big because they're always there regardless of what high-tech industries come and go. Whenever I go jogging, I always see the plumbing trucks, the electrical trucks, the contractor trucks, the carpet cleaners, window installers, etc. No matter what happens, people always need those basic services. I looked around for an indepth vocational-trades book. I couldn't find one. Here is my attempt at a good comprehensive vocational trades book. Even in the trades, be very wary about what you decide to go to school for. I've had friends spend a few years taking a certain vocational program like electronic technician or computer tech only to end up not being able to find a job in their field.

The first and only monograph to celebrate Ward Bennett, the leading American interior and furniture designer. Ward Bennett (1917-2003) was a leading American designer whose career spanned more than five decades. Born in New York, he left home at thirteen and got his start in the city's garment district. He eventually left the fashion world and began to reinvent himself as the Ward Bennett we know today: designing architecture, interiors, furniture, textiles, and objects, all with his vision for simple form paired with elegant materials. His reputation earned him some of the day's most affluent clients: David Rockefeller and Chase Manhattan Bank, Gianni and Marella Agnelli, Tiffany & Co., and Rolling Stone magazine cofounders and publishers Jann and Jane Wenner, among others. Even after his death, his signature rich minimalism continues to be recognized and awarded. This, the first and only comprehensive monograph covering Bennett’s career, brings to life his work through previously unpublished materials, including an interview with Bennett.

The complete guide to portfolio development for interior designers It's a widely known fact that interior designers need a strong visual presence in the form of a well-crafted, professional-looking portfolio. Portfolios for Interior Designers helps demystify the process by guiding the reader toward mastery in assembling a winning portfolio. It delivers essential step-by-step instruction presented in a manner that shows interior designers how to properly and effectively display their designs. This book also includes: Color and black-and-white illustrations showing portfolio elements and options Graphic design concepts necessary for portfolio development Specific information for the design of digital portfolios Supplemental teaching resources that direct readers to a companion Web site Useful tips on the ways that popular graphics software applications can be best implemented for certain portfolio elements Samples of cover letters and resumes, along with discussion of job search procedures With the aid of real-world examples, Portfolios for Interior Designers examines how a portfolio can be used as an effective tool for communicating with clients and other professionals. A much-needed guide, this book eliminates the uncertainty surrounding portfolio development so that interior designers can showcase their abilities success-fully—and land the next job.

Many students complete their secondary schooling unsure of the career path they wish to pursue. Still very few complete post-secondary education knowing their chosen career path. Information to guide students on choosing their career paths is not readily available locally. The few career guidance showcases put on by the school system falls short of providing meaningful information for students. The importance of knowing at an early stage the pathway to a chosen career is invaluable as it saves time, worry, anxiety and financial resources. This is where Dawn French and her Careers series come in. Whether you are a parent, a student or someone looking to a new career, this series provides invaluable information on the common career pathways in Saint Lucia. The information presented is simple to understand and straight to the point. The series provides information on academic qualifications/skills requirements, educational institutions, scholarship/financial aid opportunities, an interview primer and potential employment opportunities. I encourage everyone interested in pursuing a career to get their hands on a copy of their chosen Career book. This little investment will pay off huge dividends in the long term as it will guide you in pursuing your chosen career.
