Clients are the lifeblood of any interior design firm and a sound understanding of how to manage those clients is essential. Interior Design Clients is an informative yet fun read for entrepreneurial designers interested in gaining a better understanding of how to build and manage their clientele. Tom Williams, designer, author, and blogger, deconstructs the pitfalls and challenges that can waylay even seasoned designers. As many professional designers learn, clients can be intimidated by interior designers and sometimes can even be fearful of the process. This unreasonable intimidation can often hinder the designer-client relationship and can even stop clients from asking for what they want. This leads to clients being unsatisfied and then walking away with a negative impression of their designer. Learning why clients fear their interior designer and developing strategies to allay those fears is essential for gaining and keeping a satisfied clientele. Everything from good client, project, and time management to interview techniques and staff and paperwork organization can all lead to making client interaction as rewarding as possible and are important aspects of the business rarely addressed by the interior design community as a whole. Interior Design Clients covers the subjects rarely taught in design schools such as specific presentation and interview skills and how to sell to market. Through frank discussion and practical examples, Williams weaves the art of selling into his lessons on interviewing, presenting, and pleasing the client as a natural part of the design process. Becoming a residential or commercial interior designer is not an easy undertaking, but Thomas Williams’ Interior Design Clients: The Designer’s Guide to Building and Keeping a Great Clientele provides the fundamental lessons and innovative solutions to help designers succeed in the ultra-competitive world of modern interior design. The home goods market in the United States is the largest market in the world. Then why do some interior design firms thrive while others barely survive? The answer lies in one powerful little word: brand. More than a pretty logo, it involves telling the story of your distinct point of view who you want to serve and why you do business, and it's a process that happens from the inside out. This book bridges the gap between designer and design leader and shows pros how to define, value, and communicate their vision; find clients who are a fit; and master the art of being visible. Worksheets give designers the tools to learn these strategies and apply them to their work. It also includes candid conversations with design leaders such as Barbara Barry, Rose Tarlow, Kelly Hoppen, Vicente Wolf, Christiane Lemieux, Clodagh, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, and others."

Empowered Design is about creating the life you are meant to live starting from the inside out. Design is all-encompassing; from creating a passionate plan for life, to your personal space supporting your energy. Let's face it, Designers are like therapists and we are the go-to people for our clients, not only for style but for life advice. Well, it takes hard work and determination to live your best life! Design has been my life for over twenty years, and I realized that designing the life we are meant to live is connected to the space we live in. My book is about creating a passionate plan that will start with figuring out what direction will empower you and not drain you. It's important to understand the difference between the white noise that creates fear, and the fear that tells you that you're on the right track. Fear doesn't scream at you, it whispers most of the time. Everyone is afraid of anything worth doing, but how you react to that fear can be a game changer. One way that I can tell the difference between the two is if I were to imagine I was given the same opportunity that I was afraid of, except this time I was guaranteed that I could not fail. Would you still want to do it? You see, knowing the difference between how your feelings and your body reacts to different situations is at the core of fine tuning your barometer. You can't make the right decisions if you don't know the difference between the feeling of the right road or the wrong road. It seems so simple, but you would be surprised at how much people make decisions that they think are right, but really, they just chose the less scary and easy route. I'm not inventing the wheel, but I am infusing a lot of old world knowledge and common sense with my own stories of how I moved past obstacles, and how I'm still pushing past the obstacles that get in my way. I think that it's really easy to let the experiences in your life define your life. When life gives you obstacles, you need to use them as your own stepping stones. I am a fusion of Interior Design and Energy Design, and so my book will be a fusion of the two, that make up what I call Empowered Design. Now most of us know what Interior Design is, but I'm sure you're wondering what in God's name Energy Design is. And no I'm not referring to "GREEN" or Energy Efficient Design. I refer to Energy Design as the Designing of the emotional and non-physical space that surrounds you or that affects you on a daily basis. It's about taking your emotional pulse so that you can make choices that will build you up, and not bring you down. This calls for self-awareness, where you step away from yourself enough to be the watcher instead of the reactor. I have made a commitment to live my life on purpose, and I believe that I can show readers that there are no boundaries to achieving great personal success. It looks different to all of us and it's what makes your space and your journey unique. The life we are all meant to live is as much about how you feel, to what your space looks like when you wake up in the morning. It's as simple as if your house is cluttered then your brain feels cluttered. So I ask you, does your space feel authentic and does it support who you are? But I guess a better question to ask yourself is "Does your life feel authentic to who you are and who you want to be?" If the answer isn't a hard "YES" then we've got work to do!

They learn to focus on the most important tasks and make sure those get done. They eat their frogs. There's an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is eat a live frog, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're done with the worst thing you'll have to do all day. For Tracy, eating a frog is a metaphor for tackling your most challenging task—but also the one that can have the greatest positive impact on your life. Eat That Frog! shows you how to organize each day so you can zero in on these critical tasks and accomplish them efficiently and effectively. In this fully revised and updated edition, Tracy adds two new chapters. The first explains how you can use technology to remind yourself of what is most important and protect yourself from what is least important. The second offers advice for maintaining focus in our era of constant distractions, electronic and otherwise. But one thing remains unchanged: Brian Tracy cuts to the core of what is vital to effective time management: decision, discipline, and determination. This life-changing book will ensure that you get more of your important tasks done—today!

The latest groundbreaking tome from Tim Ferriss, the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek. From the author: “For the last two years, I’ve interviewed more than 200 world-class performers for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. For most of my guests, it’s the first time they’ve agreed to a two-to-three-hour interview. This unusual depth has helped make The Tim Ferriss Show the first business/interview podcast to pass 100 million downloads. “This book contains the distilled tools, tactics, and ‘inside baseball’ you won’t find anywhere else. It also includes new tips from past guests, and life lessons from new ‘guests’ you haven’t met. “What makes the show different is a relentless focus on actionable details. This is reflected in the questions. For example: What do these people do in the first sixty minutes of each morning? What do their workout routines look like, and why? What books have they gifted most to other people? What are the biggest wastes of time for novices in their field? What supplements do they take on a daily basis? “I don’t view myself as an interviewer. I view myself as an experimenter. If I can’t test something and replicate results in the messy reality of everyday life, I’m not interested. “Everything within these pages has been vetted, explored, and applied to my own life in some fashion. I’ve used dozens of the tactics and philosophies in high-stakes negotiations, high-risk environments, or large business dealings. The lessons have made me millions of dollars and saved me years of wasted effort and frustration. “I created this book, my ultimate notebook of high-leverage tools, for myself. It’s changed my life, and I hope the same for you.”
